OSB (Oriented Strand Board) is a type of engineered wood consisting of cross-oriented layers of wood strands compressed and bonded together with resin, applied under high pressure and temperature. It has higher shear strength compared to plywood and has excellent stiffness and stability. And it is also free from knots. However, it is hygroscopic. If exposed to moisture, the edges can expand by up to 15%.
These standardized panels are often used as wall cladding, flooring, ceiling, or partitions. It is also great for making furniture, shuttering, and packaging purposes.
