Shekharam Residence is synonymous with “a modern narrative of tradition.” The client has a family of 4 members who are very modern, yet love the traditional way of architecture. The spaces in this project are blissfully curated to fuse modern architecture with the traditional essence of the clients’ personalities. Material Of Architecture:
Striped Wood Panel, Dark Chestnut Brick, Al wood doored window, and the Brass Conical Pendant Lamp are the prime construction materials of Shekharam.
Striped Wood Panel:
It is a decorative technique that defines the interior design to supplement it with a unique and dynamic look to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces. The manufacturing entails cutting thin strips of wood in contrasting widths and arranging them in a pattern, resulting in a striped effect.
Advantages:
- It is long-lasting and resistant to scratches and dents.
- Wood is a natural insulator, so this panel can keep the spaces warm in winter and cool in summer.
Factors to consider:
- Requires strict maintenance (polishing, and cleaning).
- Susceptible to moisture damage.
Dark Chestnut Brick:
Dark chestnut brick is a type of brick that has a dark brown color with hints of red and orange. The manufacturing happens by sending the natural clay through higher temperatures to create durable bricks. These bricks find a large application in exterior construction projects, such as building facades, chimneys, and retaining walls.
Advantages:
- They are durable.
- They help in regulating temperature and are beneficial to reduce the heating and cooling costs in buildings.
Factors to consider:
- The brick’s dark color can absorb a significant amount of heat, which can make the interior of a building warmer and increase the need for air conditioning.
- Dark chestnut brick is porous and can absorb moisture, which can lead to damage over time.
Al Wood Doored Window:
Al wood door window is a window design where the window sash and frame are aluminum, while the doors or panels are wood. This type of window combines the benefits of both materials, offering the strength and durability of aluminum with the natural beauty and insulation of wood.
Advantages:
- They offer a customizable versatile design.
- The combination of aluminum and wood provides excellent soundproofing.
Factors to consider:
- They need regular maintenance such as painting, sealing, or staining to protect them from moisture and weather damage.
Brass Conical Pendant Lamp:
A brass conical pendant lamp is a lighting fixture with a conical-shaped shade of brass. It adds a touch of elegance to the interiors of any space. Lamp suspension is possible when we use a chord or a chain, and the height needs adjustment as per the requirements of the room. The conical shape of the shade directs the light downwards and provides a focused illumination that is perfect for task lighting and creating a cozy atmosphere.
Advantages:
- They fit in a variety of spaces without seeming like odd ones out.
- They offer a mood-lighting effect for an intimate and cozy atmosphere.
Factors to consider:
- They provide limited lighting coverage.
- Brass is sensitive to temperature, and it can become hot to the touch when the lamp is in use.
