This beauty of a bungalow is spread over a massive 5000 sqft of land, located at Amby Valley City, outskirts of Mumbai. The house was not built from scratch but redesigned and refurbished using eco-friendly upscaled materials. The developer had a choice to use different materials and they decided to go with only the materials which were suitable for optimizing the overall appearance as well as reducing carbon emissions by 86% compared to a benchmark house. The client wanted plainness, zeal, and yet a vibe of elegance and luxury. The KNS Architects worked on maintaining the expanse of the space and encouraging the flow between different zones organically. Let’s find out about the products used in its construction. The accentuating materials used in this project are peroba wood tile, metal plant stands, clay flat roof tiles, square paver tiles, and textured wall tiles. Let’s take a quick sneak peek at these materials in a nutshell.
Peroba Wood Tiles:
The surface finish is matt, and its body is vitrified to give it a glossy appearance. Advantages:
- UV resistant and durable for 100 years.
- Avant-garde insulation properties offer calmer surroundings with insulation against clangor.
Factors to consider:
- Brittle as they are enduring.
- Absorbs dirt quite readily.
Square paver blocks:
Its standard size is 200 X 100 X 50mm. The prime materials in its making are concrete, cement, rubber, and granite. Sawn or shot blast forms its finishing. They find broader applications in pavements, gardening, and landscaping.
